Recycled Paper approached people
(NPES International Printing E-Commerce Website 2008-09-27)From business cards of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee staff to various tickets of Olympic Games; from children¡¯s 30,000 fine drawings, which used to decorate the athletes apartment of Beijing's Olympic Village, to all the paper used in offices in Olympic Village, they all use environmentally-friendly recycled paper without exception. Once recycled paper came into the Hall of Olympic Games, it has further accessed to people's life and vision.
Protection of Forest and the Development of Recycled Paper are very important
Authoritative information: the world's forest area has decreased by 80% compared with 8000 years ago. Today, 7,300,000 hectares of forest reduced each year on the earth, that is, a football field-sized forest will disappear from the earth in every two seconds.
The 40% of the trees, which have been felled, have been made into paper pulp, the raw material of books, magazines and paper products. This shows that the relationship between the protection of forests and the use of paper is inseparable.
In China, the per capita forest area is only ranked 134th in the world, which far below the world¡¯s average level. But from the beginning of 2003, China has become the world's second largest paper consumer second only to the United States, but also the growth rate of per capita consumption is extremely fast and reached 50 kg per head per annum in 2006, which is 4 times than 1990¡¯s. As a result, even though China has been strengthening the protection of natural forests, it is still beyond the control of the reduction of large areas of virgin forest due to huge demand.
According to the analysis of Zhang Lei, who is the director of the Economic Development Research Center of the State Forestry Administration, 1.25 tons of waste paper can produce 1 ton of recycled office paper. Calculating in accordance with international standards, it can save 4 cubic meters of wood, 100 cubic meters of water, 600 kwh of electricity, 1.2 tons of coal, 300 kilograms of chemical raw materials, 150 yuan for dealing with the waste and also avoid the surrounding groundwater pollution caused by landfill of the waste, but also it reduce the emission of 60 pounds of industrial waste gas and solid waste.
We should to produce and use the recycled paper as far as possible, reduce the reliance on logs, which is playing an important role in protecting our country's poor forest resources, environmental protection and realizing the sustainable development.
Reading Materials produced by Recycled Paper are in not Poor Quality
At the beginning of August, version series "A¡¯mi: the Child of the Stars " are published, which is the China's first book printed by 100% recycled paper. A week later, the book's sales ranked among the best compared with the books at the same period. Before this, Zhang Kangkang, Yang Hongying, Li Yinhe, Chen Guanzhong, Guo Geng and many other writers have signed "The Declaration of Writers¡¯ love to Forest" and became members who support the green publication.
In the seminar of "Green Publishing¡±, nearly 10 publishers agreed on the environmental protection value of recycling of recycled paper. ¡°The sales result of ¡°A¡¯mi " proved that the environmentally-friendly books are not in bad quality. People formerly worried that recycled paper is rough comparatively, but in fact, China¡¯s paper-making technology has reached a very High level now, the quality of recycled paper is very close to the general book paper. The price of recycled paper is a little bit higher than general paper, which is perfectly acceptable. ¡°said by Yang Wenxuan, the Editor-in-Chief of Hirofumi Museum, who took part in green publication planning.
At the beginning of September, the idea of "green publishing" is practicing in the 4-day 15th Beijing International Book Fair, that is, covers of brochures and some of the books are all printed by recycled paper. The fair and the international environmental organization cooperated peacefully and greenly, they produced 90 square meters of special exhibition area of ¡°who love books love the forest", and used recycled paper and recycled cardboard to make the "forest of paper", which let visitors feel the close relationship between forest and paper and become the bright spot in the feast of books. At the scene, responsible persons of publishing houses in Guangxi, Shaanxi and other places showed keen interest in the application of recycled paper and expressed their wishes one after another to promote development of "green publication" cause .
Policies support the growing Recycled Paper Industry
In recent years, the short of the world's forest resources and the awareness of environmental protection in China have upgraded on the whole, coupled with national stringent targets of energy-saving and emission reduction, which provide rapid development opportunities for promoting the production and use of environment-friendly recycled paper which can reduce pollution.
Qi Xiaodong, the Vice Secretary General of China Institute of Paper, told reporters that there are more than 100 enterprises that have certain scale producing pulp and paper at present in China, of which 80% have the ability to produce environmentally-friendly recycled paper. He said that the demand of the market and the guidance policy of governments is the key to promote environmentally-friendly recycled paper. Taking Beijing as an example, the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission issued related policies to support resource-recycling enterprises in recent years; they will implement privilege of reducing the collection of the value-added tax to newly-established resource-recycling enterprises. The amount of waste paper can be recycled every day in Beijing can up to thousands of tons. Under the related policy¡¯s support, Beijing set up one after another batch of waste paper packaging factory over the past three years, which specialized in providing services to paper-making enterprises to deal with waste paper. As a result, not only reduced the reliance on original wood pulp of paper-making enterprises, but also reduced the consumption of forest resources and protected the natural ecological environment.
For example, the Japan Matsumoto Company, whose main business is paper-packaging, introduced a set of production management systems and equipment to Beijing, which accumulated for decades, the packaging volume of waste paper each machine can amount to 150 tons per day, not only reduce the cost of waste paper in circulation, but also spread the experience that how to recycle the waste paper. At present, there are 36 waste paper packaging enterprises in Beijing. "The State support environmentally-friendly enterprises, there is demand in market, profits in enterprises, and we have the enthusiasm. We bring forward the slogan that less we use the wood pulp, the more trees we have." said by Zhang Xun, the Chairman of Shandong Qihe Champion Paper-making Co., Ltd, who is busy in preparing the establishment of waste paper packaging factory.
The reporter witnessed the whole process of the classification of waste paper, recycling of paper fiber, and the production of recycled cultural paper in this company. They adopt ¡°Fuxing recycled offset printing paper" that conform to the international production standard, which has been identified as famous brand of Shandong Province by Technical Supervision. Zhang Xun said: "Producing every 1 ton of recycled paper, which is equivalent to saving 100 tons of water, reducing 35% in water pollution and reducing energy consumption at an average level of 40%."
Government as an Example to promote the Recycled Paper onto the Office Desk Confronting increasingly intensive crisis of energy and environment, the Chinese government pay more attention to the related issues between the use of paper and the environment. The governments of Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Hubei and other places have been issued the initiative to promote the use of recycled paper; performing the social responsibility that the paper consumption should not at the cost of damaging the forest.
In the period of NPC &CPPCC in 2007, the recycled paper began to be used in some offices. In the period of NPC &CPPCC in 2008, paper of all places like meeting venue, resident office of all representatives and members all used the recycled paper.
After the successful bid for Beijing Olympics, the recycled paper took giant steps into the office paper market in Beijing. The City Environmental Protection Agency took the lead in using recycled paper in offices, Xicheng, Dongcheng, Chaoyang District and other government agencies also have been using recycled paper in offices. The Liuyin Street Primary School in Xicheng District and the Cherry Garden Experimental School in Chaoyang District gradually promote the exercise books of recycled paper.
In Shanghai, Bureau of General Services of the municipal government had signed a procurement agreement with Shandong Dezhou Champion Paper-making Co., Ltd from 2006 , a considerable number of recycled paper have been purchased in two years, which used for printing various documents of the Document Printing Center of General Office of Municipal People's Government. Shanghai People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as the Economic Commission, the Government of Changning District and the Environmental Protection Agency in many areas has phased in the use of recycled office paper.
From April of this year, Hubei Province has been using recycled paper to print the Provincial Government Communiqu¨¦. Officials from Tianjin, Qingdao and other places ,who attended the investment promotion session, the business card they used all printed by recycled paper, using recycled paper has become a fashion.

The recycled paper, which the main raw material is waste paper, can be made into pulp through a variety of complex processes, and then be produced by specific technique. We introduce waste paper pulp into its production process, thus saving the consumption of forest resources. The waste paper pulp ratio of raw materials of recycled paper is 60-100%, the whiteness is 82 degrees to 85 degrees compared with the ordinary paper, and paper made from original wood pulp is 95 degrees to 105 degrees. At present, the most popular paper is the true color recycled paper of 83 degrees, which is more conducive to the protection of human vision.
