(NPES International E-commerce Website, May 12, 2006) It was disclosed that China is drafting a new import tariff for offset press and it will be published by the end of the year.

A professional, who took part in a conference for the issues of duty free access, said the standard will be raised. It was said that the new import tariff will treat commercial web press and newspaper web press as two different parts. The duty free standard will be 70,000 sheets per hour for newspaper web press and 60,000 sheets per hour for commercial web press.

It is reported that the oversea printing manufacturers have given up the competition of low end products and turned to high end products in China because of the new tariff.
