drupa technology guide: How do you assess the market and the situation for Digital Printing in your country and Latin America? Fredy Charabati: Since we were one of the 'early adaptors' of digital printing in Mexico, at that time with very limited success, we have been observing the market evolving and growing. Each day more and more customers are demanding digital print solutions, and from the printer's point of view, each day more solutions are available, the consumables costs have been significantly reduced, making the solution more and more viable and profitable.
drupa technology guide: What trends can be identified from the wishes and requirements of your customers? Fredy Charabati: Most of the customers are asking for short runs, and the demand for personalized printing is growing. Photo products are also starting to evolve.
drupa technology guide: What effects have these had on your company? Where do you plan to invest in the near future? Fredy Charabati: Last year we invested in a HP Indigo 5500, which we consider is the state of the art in printing presses, with a quality that can easily compete with high quality commercial printing. We also want to address the photographic market with solutions even for the end-customer. Apart from that we are making important investment in finishing equipment to achieve almost complete vertical integration. We feel that, despite that the market this year is slower, it will pick up probably by the end of the year. |
